Bringing meaning to the past, present, and future through

storytelling and collaboration

Our Approach

Our interdisciplinary service lines have grown from a 30+ year legacy of working with our clients and their communities to co-create solutions for responsible, holistic change. Every process begins with inspiration and discovery, which leads to innovation and the creation of something worth celebrating. Our work guides long-term success through implementation and action.  Learn more about our multidisciplinary projects here.

Our approach to public involvement integrates both hands-on and digital components into all our environmental, planning, design, and cultural projects.  From tribal consultation to engaging with our most marginalized populations, we employ non-traditional techniques to ensure true representation. We strive to make engagement feel inclusive and inviting, rather than resembling typical government processes.  We are leaders in using storytelling and immersive technology, and our activities foster genuine participation.  We track our success to ensure we reach those who may not regularly participate. By prioritizing meaningful engagement, we aim to create projects that reflect the diverse voices and needs of the communities we serve.  Explore how we engage communities and foster co-creation through our select public and community involvement projects here.

Environmental Services

Our team of environmental professionals excels at navigating complex processes, coordinating with agencies and the public, and meeting technical requirements for effective environmental stewardship. Our public and private clients select us for our expertise in developing a variety of resilient, sustainable design solutions.

Cultural Resources

Our team of archaeologists, historic preservation specialists, and ethnographers deliver industry-leading compliance, consultation, and research services that recognize the environmental, social, and economic contexts of the communities where we live and work. We practice active communication with, transparency in, and a commitment to Indigenous, federal, state, and local processes.

Community Planning

We build on a community’s history and culture to co-create a sustainable, resilient future. We think differently about planning, engaging communities creatively and avoiding jargon. We advance plans, designs, and communities by leveraging new ideas and innovations. Our team has extensive experience in comprehensive plans and land use code. We work hand-in-hand with communities to address unique challenges and develop achievable and implementable solutions.

Landscape Architecture

Our team of professional landscape architects and talented landscape designers specialize in all aspects of the built and natural environment. Our work is woven into the communities we serve through parks, recreation, open space, and trail design; urban infill and redevelopment; environmental restoration; commercial, residential, and education/civic/public facilities site planning; and streetscapes, trails, and pathways design.
