Recreation, environmental, and land use guidance for the busiest waterways in Idaho

Valley County Waterways Management Plan

Water plays a very important role in the quality of life and economic development opportunities for residents, second homeowners, recreation users, irrigation districts, and businesses across Valley County Idaho. The County is transitioning from its traditional agrarian, timber harvesting, and mining roots to include a recreation destination-based economy. Continued growth in the region, increased demand for shoreline development in general, and increased demand for recreational access to the water is expected. With this shift comes increased use of public lands, as well as land-use challenges and impacts of population and visitation growth. Valley County, and the respective jurisdictions, will use this Plan to help guide future recreation management and land use measures while considering environmental stewardship of the lakes and reservoirs. The Plan outlines waterway specific strategies, baseline and desire future condition indicators, and management plan map for the primary County waterways.
