Trails and Active Transportation for Northern Arizona's Next Trail Town

Connect Clarkdale

Clarkdale Arizona is advantageously located in the Verde Valley, just 30-minutes south of Sedona. Clarkdale is an emerging gateway Community to Tuzigoot National Monument, Prescott National Forest, Coconino National Forest, and Dead Horse Ranch State Park. The Town of Clarkdale recently completed its first-ever comprehensive trails and active transportation plan in 2024. The planning process was completed in less than 12-months, including extensive research and data collection, public engagement to understand needs and opportunities, route verification and refinement with strategic partner agencies, and estimates of probable cost to inform project prioritization. Community input was one of the most influential factors in route identification as was close partnership with adjacent towns and Yavapai County, the National Forests, National Monument, and Arizona State Parks to inform trail alignments and incorporate lessons learned for proactive recreation management. Connect Clarkdale, presents a vision and implementation framework that identifies a near-term system for immediate implementation and a long-term buildout that includes aspirational projects and trails focused on destination-quality recreation.
