From paper to pixels: interactive comprehensive planning

Colorado Springs Comprehensive Plan

In 2016, the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado’s second-largest city located at the base of Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain, updated their comprehensive plan for the first time in 15 years. The “PlanCOS” campaign was a two-year process that asked citizens, “What do you want Colorado Springs to be in 10 years?” From new shopping areas, community centers, housing choices, employment, educational opportunities, trails, recreation facilities, and redevelopment, to a re-invented Downtown, the PlanCOS set the stage for the city’s future.

As a long-range vision, the Plan sets forth the values intended to realize as the City changes over the next 20 to 30 years and ties those values to land use, economic development, community design and infrastructure upgrade strategies and recommendations.
