The City of Phoenix, in Arizona, is developing a park master plan and improvement project at North Mountain Park. In advance of the planned improvements, Logan Simpson conducted an intensive Class III cultural resource survey and historic building inventory of approximately 24 acres of land within North Mountain Park, including documentation of historical park infrastructure such as ramadas and pavilions. Logan Simpson also prepared a comprehensive cultural overview for North Mountain and nearby vistas of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. The project included a discussion and a site visit with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian and Gila River Indian Communities to help understand Tribal perspectives about hilltop locations in the preserve.
