Enhancing mountain towns while providing local parks and recreation needs

McCall Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan

Logan Simpson created a master plan that will guide the City of McCall’s Parks and Recreation Department in allocating financial resources and providing programs and services for the next ten years and beyond. The plan builds off the many accomplishments since the last plan in 2005 and other community plans, such as the Pathways Master Plan, and McCall in Motion (comprehensive plan) and McCall Downtown Plan, which were both developed by Logan Simpson. With the North Fork of the Payette River running through the community, and its location adjacent to Payette Lake and abundant federal and state public lands, the City of McCall has increasingly attracted new residents and visitors. As part of the process Logan Simpson developed conceptual plans for three key properties: Riverfront Park, which is 36 acres and largely undeveloped, and two undeveloped neighborhood parks. Detailed cost estimates were prepared for all 26 projects, and they are being prioritized based on community input and potential funding sources. The planning process also evaluated city-wide policies and funding mechanisms with recommendations to create an implementable plan that recommends a park development capital expansion fee, changes to concessionaire agreements, increasing staffing levels, and additions to policies (ebikes, drones, dog parks).
