A 2018 update of the Comprehensive Plan identified that many of the target indicators, specifically housing, were trending upward but that there was still work to be done which instigated a Workforce Housing Action Plan. The initial housing plan surpasses most housing programs in the nation by meeting the Comprehensive Plan’s goal of housing 65% of people working in Teton County and key subareas and implemented tools include inclusionary housing requirements, accessory dwelling unit’s rental requirements and bonuses, short-term rental restrictions, small house requirements, density bonus’s, TDR linkages, land acquisition, restricted unit construction and a proposed workforce housing sales tax.

The most recent effort included public outreach support to update the Workforce Housing Action Plan and communicate the Housing Nexus Study and Needs Assessment results to a targeted advisory committee who helped refine a set of recommended edits to the original Housing Plan and subsequent Land Development Regulations as related to workforce housing and inclusionary unit calculations. The recommendations were presented to the joint councils for final confirmation prior to updating the Land Development Regulations.
