This position will be in our downtown Fort Collins, Colorado office, but we are open to a remote location in one of our Mountain/Southwest communities.

Our Team

This ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding and analyzing the planning, infrastructure, and growth of some of the most desirable communities throughout Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona. The successful candidate must be able to learn from, and contribute to, our integrated internal culture; maximize opportunities to learn new techniques and skills; and bring new tools and ideas to the Team. Duties and responsibilities of the position will require independent leadership and will include the following: develop GIS models for land use growth allocation, conservation planning, and environmental constraints; understand land use types and associated densities; research and prepare demographic and economic reports; persuasively present findings; and perform related duties as required. Occasional out-of-state travel to visit project sites and clients should be anticipated.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience at a GIS, socioeconomic, planning, or consulting firm or in a municipal planning or utility department.
  • Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS modeling, ArcGIS Online, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure and utility demand, economics, demographics, and land use and conservation planning principles and practices.
  • Strong persuasive verbal, written, interpersonal, and public speaking communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment, multitask, and be able to adjust to daily changes in priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Desire to work independently, yet collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a willingness to expand the knowledge base and solve problems regarding a wide range of projects in a wide range of topographies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or GISP certificate in geospatial technology, Geodesign, planning, natural resources, or closely related field.
  • Experience in a range of utilities and physical land use planning at various scales and levels of detail.


Logan Simpson offers full- and part-time staff members a competitive salary of $60,000 – $75,000 (DOE) and a comprehensive benefits package.
