GIS Analyst – Flagstaff/Tempe/Tucson

Position Responsibilities: 

This individual will perform GIS modeling; research and prepare demographic and economic reports; persuasively present findings; and perform related duties as required. Occasional out-of-state travel to visit project sites and clients should be anticipated. Self-starters with an eye for detail, a dedication to accuracy, and a passion for not just incorporating best practices, but identifying and testing new planning ideas, practices, and technologies, are encouraged to apply.

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years of GIS experience, preferably at a consulting firm or in a municipal planning or utility department.
  • Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS modeling using ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of products, especially ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, Model Builder, ArcGIS Online (Web AppBuilder, Story Maps, Dashboards, ArcGIS Hub), ArcGIS Online, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel. GIS programming experience (i.e., Python, Java, C++) is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure and utility demand, economics, demographics, and land use planning principles and practices.
  • Strong persuasive verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and be able to adjust to daily changes in priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Desire to work independently, yet collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a willingness to expand knowledge base and problem-solve regarding a wide range of projects in a wide range of topographies.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree, or GISP certificate in Geospatial Technology, Geodesign, Planning, Natural Resources, or closely related field.
  • Experience in a range of utilities and physical land use planning at various scales and levels of detail.


This full-time position is paid on a salaried basis between $47,840 – $64,480 (DOE) annually.
