Logan Simpson, an environmental planning, cultural resource management, planning, and landscape architecture design firm, has an immediate opening for a regular full-time Architectural Historian based out of our Tempe, Arizona corporate headquarters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting and assisting with historic preservation and other cultural resources fieldwork, including documentation of historic buildings, structures, sites, objects, and districts;
- Conducting historical background research;
- Preparing reports and other work products, such as historic contexts, architectural surveys, Historic Property Certification Application documentation, and National Register of Historic Places nominations.
Position Requires:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field or at least 5 years of equivalent professional work experience;
- Demonstrable experience in conducting archival research, building and cultural landscape / trails inventories, and surveys of the built environment;
- Strong familiarity with architectural terms and styles typical to the western United States;
- Be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented setting;
- Must be able to travel and work out-of-town;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, History, or closely related field;
- Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History; meeting both Architectural History and History qualifications standards strongly preferred;
- Experience preparing Historic American Buildings Survey, Historic American Engineering Record, Historic American Landscape Survey, and National Historic Trails documentation;
- Familiarity with Arizona / western U.S. history
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation ranges from $45,000 to $65,000 annually, depending upon experience.
