Archaeologists – Salt Lake City

Logan Simpson, an environmental planning, cultural resource management, and landscape architectural design firm, has immediate openings for regular full-time Archaeologists based in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. This is an office-based position focused primarily on report and site form production with some opportunity for fieldwork.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of technical archaeological reports
  • Prepare report-ready site descriptions from field data
  • Produce site forms
  • Conduct online and in-person research
  • Assist with office tasks that include, but are not limited to, data management, background research, data entry, and other similar tasks
  • Manage electronic field devices such as tablets and GPS units (uploads and downloads)
  • Complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Interact and work well as a team member

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or closely related field or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of archaeology experience in the Great Basin or Southwest
  • Ability to work in our office based in Salt Lake City
  • Excellent writing skills
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow direction of supervisors
  • Proficient at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth

Preferred, but not required:

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology or closely related field
  • Experience with the WildNote digital data collection system
  • Previous experience preparing archaeological site forms and technical reports
  • Working knowledge of the National Register of Historic Places and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act

Compensation:

This full-time position is paid on a salaried basis between $37,440 – $52,000, dependent upon experience.
